CHARACTER COUNTS!

Character Counts! is a BIG deal at Sam Houston Elementary and all across G.P.I.S.D., from elementary all the way up to high school.  There are six pillars of character that are taught and emphasized on a daily basis.  Each six weeks the district encourages everyone to focus on a specific pillar.  Here at Sam Houston, we honor our students that show good character on a daily basis. A special wall is set up for Kindergarten and 1st grade students that are "Caught Being Good" in the hall and bathroom.  Character Coupons are passed out by the staff to students showing good character.  Prizes are given out at the end of the six weeks in a six weeks drawing.  

Classroom teachers also nominate two students each six weeks as their "Star Citizens".  A celebration at the end of the six weeks honors these students with a juice, snack and certificate in the cafeteria put on by the Special Programs Team.  Without our awesome Special Programs Staff this celebration
wouldn't be possible!
